2016 Stuff the Bus Event

The Monterey County Office of Education would like to thank all of the volunteers through United Way of Monterey County who worked so hard to stuff 2790 backpacks full of school supplies for our homeless students throughout Monterey County.

The Stuff the Bus event aims to provide essential school supplies to students living in homeless or near-homeless situations.  A shocking number of Monterey County students (over 7,000) are considered homeless under Federal guidelines, living unsheltered, in a hotel/motel, temporary shelter, or doubled up in homes.

Having a backpack filled with pencils, pens, calculators, and notebooks allows a student to begin the school year with the tools for learning. It builds confidence and lays the foundation for success.
