Salinas Farm Day 2015

Every year, thousands of Monterey County third grade students are treated to a memorable, hands-on learning experience at Farm Day, a nationally recognized educational program coordinated by the local agricultural industry.

The Farm Day Experience is held three times a year – in King City, Salinas, and Monterey – and gives students and teachers the opportunity to become familiar with current methods of food production.

Since the first Farm Day in 1991, the event has become a permanent component of county third grade curriculum.

Monterey County Agricultural Education, Inc., a nonprofit organization, coordinates over 700 volunteers from the local agricultural industry to give students the important, personal contact with farming that has been lost through increased urbanization.
