Monterey County Students to Compete in Two Field Day Events
**Media Invited to Attend**
Salinas, CA – Special Education students from Monterey County Office of Education programs throughout Monterey County will participate in two field day events – May 1 in Salinas, and May 22 in King City.
The theme for both events is, “If I had fun … I won!”
Both Field Days will begin with a parade of students, complete with colorful school banners, and a release of doves to mark the occasion.
Students will participate in a variety of events specifically designed for moderately to severely disabled students, including wheel chair races, running races, throwing, jumping and target games.
“Each of our Field Day events are designed with success in mind,” said Mariphil Romanow-Cole, Assistant Superintendent, Monterey County Office of Education. “The Adaptive Physical Education teachers worked with our staff and students all year to practice skills like running, throwing, balance and coordination to help them achieve their personal goals. It is day that’s filled with smiles, cheers and looks of satisfaction.”
