Monterey County Board of Education Swears in New Board Members

Salinas, Calif. – The Monterey County Board of Education will conduct an oath of office ceremony for Board Members John McPherson, Ronald Panziera, and Janet Wohlgemuth during its January 6, 2016 meeting at 9:05 a.m. in Conference Rooms A/B at the Monterey County Office of Education at 901 Blanco Circle in Salinas.

The Monterey County Board of Education consists of seven members who represent individual trustee areas of the county. McPherson, Panziera, and Wohlgemuth are joined by County Board of Education members Sergio Alejo, Mary Claypool, Harvey Kuffner, and Judy Pennycook. Panziera was elected President of the County Board of Education and Pennycook was elected Vice President at the December 7, 2015 organizational meeting.

John McPherson represents Trustee Area Two, which extends from south Salinas to the City of Monterey, as well as mid-County including Chualar and Gonzales. Trustee Area Two encompasses all or major parts of eight different school districts. McPherson was first elected to the County Board of Education in November 2011.

Janet Wohlgemuth represents Trustee Area Four, which encompasses the southeastern and southwestern parts of the City of Salinas. She was elected to the Monterey County Board of Education in November 2015.

Ron Panziera represents Trustee Area Five, which includes the most southern section of the Salinas Valley including ten school districts from Soledad to Bradley. He has served on the County Board of Education since 2006.
