Monterey County Home to Over Four Hundred Foster Children and Youth
Monterey County Organizations Honored as Champions for Children and Youth Growing Up in Foster Care System
Salinas, Calif. – Children and youth who are growing up in the foster care system face unique challenges and are in need of many support systems as they grow. They are often moved from place to place and do not have a secure family support structure. In Monterey County, there are many organizations that support foster children and youth.
The Monterey County Office of Education and Board of Education wish to recognize four champion organizations that create a network of family-like support, each providing many aspects of care that are needed for foster children and youth to grow into healthy, resilient people. Over the years, Voices for Children CASA, Peacock Acres, Door to Hope, and The Epicenter have nurtured local foster children and youth and will be showcased during a press conference event on: Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in MCOE’s Rooms A & B at 901 Blanco Circle, Salinas.
Speakers at the event will be:
