The inaugural Monterey County Educational Leadership Summit, held in November 2013, was an ambitious endeavor and a significant accomplishment for the Monterey County Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools, the Monterey County Office of Education, and the Monterey County School Boards Association. Local school board members and superintendents participated in an unique, day-long training opportunity hosted in a retreat-like setting where they escaped for a day together to focus on developing relationships, as well as gaining and enhancing the knowledge and skills necessary to be highly effective governance and leadership teams.
Each session of the Educational Leadership Summit was videotaped to capture the day’s content and deliver the experience to a wider audience, specifically board members and superintendents who were unable to attend. It also allows Summit attendees to review information learned and share specific content with members who had chosen to attend different sessions.
We invite you to view these Summit presentations which were videotaped by Monterey County Office of Education’s Media Center for Art, Education and Technology (MCAET):
In addition, an Educational Leadership Summit overview video was created, utilizing still shots and video clips that highlighted the days event. The Educational Leadership Summit video can be found on YouTube at This Just In from MCOE:
The Monterey County Educational Leadership Summit was a vision of Monterey County Board Member, Judy Pennycook. Her enthusiastic commitment and tireless work put in to launching the inaugural event will continue to have long lasting and positive impact, as future Educational Leadership Summits strive to provide school board members with the information, training, and support needed to fulfill their duties, serve their districts, and lead our children on a path to success.
